Before registering your interest in adopting an Italian Greyhound or IG Cross Breed …
Do you meet all the criteria below?
- You live in England, Scotland or Wales
- You expect to provide care to the dog for its whole lifetime (which for a puppy could be up to around 16 years)
- You have the time to care and give companionship to an IG every day
- You have a private, secure garden with direct access
- There are no large breed dogs in your home
- You don’t already have more than 4 dogs in your home
- If you have children and they’ve never lived with an IG before, there are no children under the age of 8 in your household
- If you live with your partner, you are both in agreement to adopt an IG
- You understand that registering with us does not guarantee we will fnd you an IG!
If you meet all the criteria above then you may be eligible for inclusion when we search for potential homes for Rescue IGs, but each dog has its unique needs so registrant profiles will only be considered where your criteria are a good match for the needs of the individual dog that we are re-homing.
Adoption Process Updates – Autumn 2025
The IGRC is currently in the process of changing its procedures for how potential adopters register their interest in adopting through the Charity. Coming into effect during Autumn/Winter 2025, the Charity will be updating its registration process, moving away from a general waiting list and instead implementing a new process which will allow homes to register their interest in specific rescue dogs. The core changes will be rolled out in the coming weeks so we ask for your patience during this transition period.
