Some of the Italian Greyhounds that come into our care are in their more advanced years and we think they deserve special treatment to ensure that they live out the rest of their lives as happy and well-cared for dogs.

We recognise that some Adopters may be concerned about the costs associated with adopting a dog that is more advanced in years, and that older dogs are more likely to have health issues that could be expensive to insure and treat.
The Italian Greyhound Rescue Charity has a policy whereby Adopters of Golden Oldies (dogs over the age of 8 years at the time of adoption) may apply to the Rescue for assistance with veterinary bills associated with “out of the ordinary” veterinary care. We don’t cover the day-to-day veterinary care costs that all dogs incur (e.g. vaccinations, annual vet checks, etc.) but we will provide financial support for dogs that require out of the ordinary treatment as directed by a qualified veterinary professional.
