Adopting an Italian Greyhound that needs a good home can be hugely satisfying and a life-enriching experience, providing that you, and your lifestyle, suit the needs of the dog, and that you are able to provide the love and care that the dog deserves for his/her lifetime.
We only re-home dogs to Adopters living on the UK mainland in England, Scotland or Wales.
Adoption Process Updates – Autumn 2025
The IGRC is currently in the process of changing its procedures for how potential adopters register their interest in adopting through the Charity. Coming into effect during Autumn/Winter 2025, the Charity will be updating its registration process, moving away from a general waiting list and instead implementing a new process which will allow homes to register their interest in specific rescue dogs. The core changes will be rolled out in the coming weeks so we ask for your patience during this transition period.
In the meantime, please follow the IGRC’s official Facebook page for further updates including details of rescue dogs who are available for adoption. If you have questions and wish to speak to our Rescue Team, please get in touch via our Contact page.

Despite the fact that we are placing more and more Italian Greyhounds each year into adoptive homes, anyone wishing to adopt an Italian Greyhound through the Italian Greyhound Rescue Charity must be prepared to wait for the right dog for their situation to become available, and we cannot guarantee that you will be successful in adopting an IG.
Every dog has unique needs and we put the needs of each dog first – we do not operate a simple “first come first served” approach when it comes to finding Adopters.
